October 2022.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Because I’m always late to absolutely everything, we’re half way through…

A month dedicated for educating, fundraising, raising awareness and talking all things tits to anyone that will listen. 🍉

10 months ago I found my lump.

A very small, hard gritty feeling lump in my right boob, not visible and you had to to really push into the skin to feel it.

After 4 months of persevering and not accepting ‘it’s likely to just be hormonal’, ‘it will probably just disappear’ or ‘we think it’s just a cyst’…

I was diagnosed with Stage 1, Grade 2, Invasive Ductal cancer.

In the UK, routine breast screening doesn’t start until the age of 50.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to KNOW YOUR BODY. To get to your normal.

Early detection is key. 🔑

At only 29 years old, with no family history, fit & healthy it just shows cancer doesn’t discriminate against anyone.

Some ugly truths:

- 1 in 7 of us will get breast cancer

- 1 woman is diagnosed every 10 minutes

- 31 women die every single day of secondary breast cancer

- Men can get breast cancer too

We can use this month to spread awareness.

To remove the stigma of age and to be your own advocate to keep pushing.

Do not let anyone tell you ‘you are too young’ or ‘it’s just hormonal’.
