Waiting in limbo, is a horrible place to be.
After 6 weeks with still no sign of my ultrasound appointment I began chasing with phone calls. Desperate to speed up the process and struggling to understand why this was taking so long.
Until after a couple of tearful phone calls I was told I was on a 3 month waiting list.
It turns out being under 30 I wasn't marked down as any type of priority.
This needs to change!
Almost 2 months now since finding my lump, I still had no answers...
24th March 2022
Ultrasound Appointment
Taken in to a room and given what would be the first of many sexy open back gowns to put on. I was asked to lay down on the bed as they ran the machine over both boobs with the cold gel. We all laughed as my fake tan poured off staining the paper sheets as I explained I was going out as Scary Spice the following day for a bottomless brunch.
The energy in the room soon changed, as the atmosphere shifted. Unhappy with my readings of the ultrasound, they injected my boob with local anaesthetic to take a biopsy of the lump.
A quick sharp sting and although not too painful the loud noise took me by surprise as the needle was spring loaded!
With all of this over within a matter of minutes, they sat me down to break the news that this was not a cyst. But they were unable to confirm what it is until we received the biopsy results....
My heart sank.
The sudden realisation that this could now be something alot more terrifying.
The seed was planted and that horrible doubt began to creep in.
You know that little niggling feeling in your gut that you just can't get rid of?
And now for more waiting...
